A Bachelorette Bash!

July has been a super crazy month filled with lots of pre wedding fun! To say I'm a little excited about my lil sis getting married is an understatement. I am ecstatic I am a Maid of Honor....um I mean Matron of Honor for the very first time and I am getting to help with lots of planning details, invitation design, parties and a few surprises along the way. It has been a great experience and a whole lot of fun getting to help with all of the planning.

The invitations were custom designed as per the bride's request. If you know my sister you know that these are just her style! While you won't find these as a regular in my shop if you message me I will create them for you!

For the Bachelorette Weekend we started it off at a hotel on the beach. It was absolutely gorgeous, great pool, amazing views and comfy rooms. When all of the girls arrived we had a little surprise waiting in the room. Some yummy treats, champagne and party favors!
Each of the bridesmaids received a little blue bag with a pair of adorable flip flops designed by the bride-to-be. and a hat to wear pool side. Tags and bags designed by Magic By Marcy.

The bride also had some adorable bags awaiting all of the Bachelorette Party guests
The tags said....
You don't have to keep it Clean
But you do have to keep it a secret!
Inside was a mini hand sanitizer and a bottle of " Such a Flirt" lotion from Victoria's Secret. The bags were absolutely adorable and a very welcome treat for her guests.

I found these adorable pink glitter champagne flutes at my local Hobby Lobby and adorned them with some larger than life diamond rings and ribbon ( also found at Hobby Lobby)

Her guests enjoyed some yummy chocolate treats before heading out for  a night on the town!

A bride-to-be wouldn't be complete without some flair for her "last fling before the ring!"

Her niece Kaitlyn helped Grandma Dee Dee make her a fabulous bridal crown. My little girl wanted to ensure that aunt BB would be letting her have the crown when she was all done for her dress up collection. Feather Boas and some sparkly pins for all completed her Bachelorette attire.

A Tiffany's Inspired Bridal shower for my lil sis!

This Tiffany's inspired bridal shower was so fun to design....of course I am a little biased since it was for my little sis. From the moment she got engaged she knew that Tiffany blue was going to be her color. So what better way to design her bridal shower than with the Tiffany theme. For decor I used gift bags found at my local Hobby Lobby, filled them with tissue paper and designed a tag with her monogram on it. I used pearls on a string ( found in the ribbon section of mu local Hobby Lobby) to add a little glitz and glam to the bags. I am fortunate that my sister has amazing taste and just happened to have some gorgeous candle holders at her house. These oversized large white candle holders were just perfect for the table tops.

Using Tiffany blue and black as my color scheme I made tissue paper pom pom's one of my favorite ways to design on a dime. They are visually eye catching, look great above a table or hanging in the center of a room. And since I was planning this shower from Tallahassee, they traveled very well all the way down to Miami. The secret is to create them by folding the tissue paper like a fan. tie your ribbon on and cut the edges. Leave them unfluffed till the day of your party this will keep them in tip top party shape.

I designed the invitations using the traditional phrase
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue....You can find these adorable invites in my shop I printed them using www.mpix.com. They offer pearl cardstock that is printed doublesided...it is out of this world gorgeous. They come with envelopes and also offer rounded corners for the boutique look. I just can't say enough for their quality and customer service!

The cake was absolutely gorgeous. My lil sis's mother in law to be created this masterpiece....it was perfect for our theme!

A signature drink is a must at shower these days...ours was simple yet tasted amazing!

Blue Hawaiian Punch
Pinaepple Juice
Sprite Zero
Coconut Rum

It was the perfect color and was amazingly simple to create!

The centerpiece did double duty, it was 3 boxes ( found at where else....Hobby Lobby) Painted and then wrapped with white satin ribbon. The top box was left open to allow for a shallow vase of white roses...and carnations to peek out the top. This will also serve as her card box at the wedding. We just cut a slot into the bottom box so guests can slide their well wishes inside.

By this point in our lives we have played every shower game known to the party world so I decided to create something a little different. Each guest received a card with a word on it. They had to think up a date that the couple could have that coincided with the word....for example one word was imagine....the date might be pack a picnic lunch and head to the beach, relax and enjoy. Imagine what life might be link 10 years down the road.
All of the creative dates went into their very own Mr. & Mrs. jar for them to experience on their many date nights after they are married.

Who can resist the age old tradition of making a bouquet out of the ribbons from your packages....I actually still have mine that my sister made me at my shower....ahhh memories.

For favors I attempted to tackle something I have never done before...hand decorated sugar cookies...I have to say they were amazing. I added a little almond flavoring to my dough and icing and they were the yummiest! Tags were created by Magic by Marcy I found directions on how to make these beautiful cookies at Sugarbelle.

We had a lot of amazing food at the shower. We kind of lucked out since one of the bridesmaids is also a professional chef...she created the most amazing menu! It was so yummy! Since I am not a culinary goddess I need simple and easy. One of my personal favorites to make for any party are individual fruit tarts. Just take a sugar or shortbread cookie and cover it with cheesecake filling (8 oz cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar and 1tbsp of vanilla) top with sliced fruit ( strawberries, peaches, kiwi and raspberries)

I had an amazing time designing this special occasion for my little sis. It was a beautiful day with beautiful people...looking forward to the big day which is right around the corner!

This was my first attempt to make cookie cutter cookies that I iced myself using royal icing. I was very pleased with the results. While they were far from perfect. I think they turned out adorable and tasted divine. If I can do this then so can you. Here are some simple tips I followed.  First I found a professional cookie site Sweet Sugarbelle I followed all of their directions for the perfect cookie recipe....the only change I made was I let my dough sit in the fridge for 30 minutes so it wasn't so sticky.  Watch as they bake. I got mine a little too brown. Let cool over night. I used food coloring gel from Hobby Lobby to get the perfect shade of blue. If you have a stand mixer put it to use it is perfect for cookie making. When you pipe your outline onto your cookies be patient and go slow. You don't want any holes for icing to drip through. Allow the cookies to dry for 2 hours before flooding. I followed the tips at Sweet Sugarbelle to thin my icing. Be sure to watch the video!
The best tip to use a squeeze bottle for flooding cookies. I found mine in the candy molding section at Hobby Lobby. I also used a rubber tipped baby spoon to help spread the icing into the corners and to get rid of the bubbles if any formed. Allow flooded cookies to dry for a couple of hours and then use original royal icing ( not thinned) to add details using a piping bag and fine tipped point.Once I added all of my little pearl details on the cake I let them dry over night. I slid them into cellophane bags and adorned with a custom tag and a ribbon.
I loaded them into Tupperware containers for the long trek to Miami. I was surprised they all made it in one piece!

And my secret weapon for the most delicious cookie....add almond flavoring, just a couple drops into the sugar cookie dough as well as the royal icing. These were easy favors to make I will definitely be using this for future parties.

Join us for a 3rd Birthday Luau

The weather is beautiful here in sunny Florida what better way to celebrate a 3rd birthday than with a Hawaiian Luau!

Aloha!!!!

Today was my sweet little niece's third birthday. Her mom did a fabulous job putting together an amazing party.

When we arrived we were greeted by the birthday girl and given leis and a grass skirt, adorned with cute favor tags made by Magic by Marcy

The little girls all looked so cute in their little Hawaiian skirts and leis!

She found hers at Oriental Trading Company
It doesn't get much cuter than these sweet little cousins!

Invitations were designed by Magic by Marcy

Uncle Dave was in charge of the delicious Pineapple smoothies. They were a refreshing hit with both the kids and the mamas too! These cute pineapple drink containers were found at Oriental Trading Company.

The kids all got their very own Hula boxes to keep their grass skirts and leis in while they played in the water toys and kiddie pools, what a great way to keep cool on a hot July day! They even had their very own little beach complete with some pretty cool shells for them to collect as favors!

What a beautiful picture of Mama and the Birthday girl! Her Hawaiian dress was so adorable!

All of the little Hula girls had such a great time!

The cupcakes were so bright and fun, they were made at our local Publix Bakery. The cupcake toppers were made by Magic By Marcy Designs . The flower toppers were made using pieces cut from a lei and hot glued onto a toothpick. What an adorable Hawaiian touch!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sweet Emma!
