It's a ducky day for a baby shower

We had a great time at my sister in laws baby shower this weekend...For those readers who are wondering this is sister in law #2 who is pregnant with a boy, my other sister in law is pregnant with a girl and they are both due the same week. So needless to say we have been having quite a fun time planning baby showers this past month. This one had a duck theme, which was oh so cute! We made a blueberry punch with some vanilla ice cream that looked like a bubble bath and floated some duckies in it for that extra special touch. Everything was trimmed with ducks. For favors we had little round tins filled with some colorful lemonhead candy. The Invitations & favor tags were designed by magicbymarcy.blogspot.com . We had markers available and the guests each designed their own rubber ducky for the new baby boy.

STAR WARS Birthday Ideas

Who says boy's birthdays can't be exciting and fun. My friend Lori was searching for some ideas for her son's STAR WARS themed birthday party. They are having it at a local pool so I put a few ideas together. For Invites try something custom http://www.magicbymarcy.blogspot.com , have the theme extend to every little aspect of your party. You can decorate those plastic pool picnic tables by simple bringing a black tablecloth * for an added touch ahead of time dilute white paint into a spray bottle, spray tablecloth and allow to dry, you will have created a one of a kind galaxy that is sure to impress. Decorate table with your child's favorite STAR WARS figurines, this is a low cost solution that will be the talk of the table. Sprinkle some star confetti for a little pizzaz! For games train your little Jedi's on the ways of the force by teaching them to use their light saber's (cut pool noodles into 2 1/2 foot lengths) this will be a fun activity that will have the kids engaged and will also teach some etiquette when beating their friends in the head with a wet pool noodle!! After some training they are ready to take on Darth Vader (or the biggest kid aka dad you know who looks convincing in a black robe and halloween mask) after some games it is time to hit the pool! You will enjoy watching your children's creativity as they reenact scenes from their favorite STAR WARS films. After some play time it's time for some birthday cupcakes, these are simple. Just make cupcakes in your favorite flavor and decorate with some star wars confetti or mini light sabers on top. If you want to extend your fun after cake play some Jedi relay races. At the end of the party be sure to give each guest their real Jedi Light saber and their award certificate that says they are a tried and true storm trooper fighting Jedi knight! Have Fun and May The Force Be With You!!!!!

It's a Girl....Baby Shower

We had the most amazing baby shower this weekend for my sister in law. We held it at a local Italian restaurant on their patio. We hung paper lanterns and trimmed everything with delicate pink organza. The guest of honor was so surprised, every little detail was breathtaking....and most exciting of all was all handmade by us.

The perfect centerpiece

The perfect centerpieces are hard to find, so why not just make your own. These centerpieces are incredibly easy to make and they will keep your guest in awe at your creativity! And will be a great gift for your guest of honor to take with them. Take two packages of diapers we used Huggies organic in newborn and size 3. Roll them lengthways and secure with a clear rubberband. Cut 2 circles out of cardboard (or use ready cut cake rounds usually found at Walmart or Michaels crafts. Hot glue a roll of toilet tissue to the middle of your largest circle, then simply position about 25 of the size 3 diapers around (this usually takes a few hands) Tie around with clear fishing line to secure in place. Make the top layer by simply filling with 16 newborn diapers and securing with fishing line in the same fashion. Viola!!! You are almost done, simple decorate with your favorite fabric or ribbon to finish off your diaper cake!

Gifts made with love

It is always special to receive a one of a kind gift made by someone you love. I put together a basket of a few goodies the mommy to be is sure to enjoy. Burp cloths, onesies, a taggie blanket, and a custom made sleeping gown for those first hospital photos.
